Wine tasting on a private island
In these unprecedented times, organizing outdoor events while following all the new regulations was not an easy task. In spring, we hosted virtual wine tastings from home. This was definitely something new both to us and to our clients, but everyone seemed to enjoy it. We sent mini bottles to our clients and held a wine tasting workshop with our wine connoisseur via Zoom. We also hosted a online yoga class and even did a virtual party live from Amsterdam’s A’DAM Tower.
The perfect outdoor event
While these virtual events were nice and unique, we really missed organizing live events where attendees would gather and enjoy an experience in real life. Fortunately, things started getting back to the (new) normal here in the Netherlands with new possibilities for hosting live events. Last July we organized a wine tasting event on a private island in the Netherlands. This picturesque island is located about 20 minutes from Amsterdam.
The island setting
Our guests arrived at the docking point in Aalsmeer where our hostess was waiting with champagne. Everyone was so excited to finally have an opportunity to get together and socialize after such a long time. Our guests hopped on a jetty that took them to this lovely island near Amsterdam. The setting on the island was beautiful and since it was July, the weather was also very nice. We had everything we needed for a memorable event. As soon as they arrived, our guests were greeted with wines and papers in front of them and the wine tasting event started straight away.
Our wine connoisseur, Robert gave an introduction and each guest had a form to answer questions about the wines. We also did a wine quiz where the winner received a complimentary bottle of wine to take back home. After the wine tasting event, our guests had dinner on the island. It was a lovely ending of a beautiful day in an idyllic outdoor setting. Since there is no electricity on the island, we transferred our guests back to the mainland as soon as it got dark.
