Book Launch of Memphis Depay´s Biography

“Heart of a Lion” – Organizing Memphis Depay´s book launch

EVENTÔIR was hired to assist with the organization of Memphis Depay´s book launch, and make it a special evening for the press and 250 invitees, including friends & family of Memphis. Our mission was to translate Memphis’ life story to the venue, showing his Ghanian roots, personal pictures, football shirts, and more.

Memphis Depay

Memphis Depay is a professional, Dutch football player, playing for the Netherlands national team and for the French club Lyon. He was born in 1994 to a Ghanaian father and a Dutch mother. His story has many ups and downs and it was time to tell his story about his breakthrough at PSV, revival in Lyon and his relationship with God. On Twitter, he posted a picture of himself and his mother at the book launch, with the following quote: “Me and my Mom at the ‘Heart Of A Lion’ book launch on Tuesday. If you read my book you’ll see why she’s such an inspiration to me and an icon for all single Mum’s out there! ❤️”

The book

This shows that the book covers many memories of his life, good ones, and bad ones. It portrays the many sides there are to Memphis Depay, being a football player and a musician. Therefore, the book launch had to be a success, to pay tribute to his triumphant accomplishments in life.

EVENTÔIR was in charge of the styling and logistics of the event. Because it is the little details that create a big impact, giving his guests an inside look of his life.

The colors of the book are gold and black, which is why the room decor of Memphis Depay´s book launch was kept in that color scheme. First of all, the ceilings were covered in balloons. Furthermore, there were gold pillows, a lion statue, and flowers, all matching the theme. When walking into the room, the first thing you could see was a photo collage, showing important moments of Memphis´ life. To the left of the entrance were eight mannequins wearing the most significant football shirts of Memphis´ football career. To the right were clothing racks filled up with vintage shirts that the football star had worn before.

A tv was continuously playing a documentary about Ghana, owing to the fact that the father of Memphis Depay is Ghanaian. There was also a big Ghanaian flag hanging on the wall. The reason behind the focus on Ghana was that every attendee was able to make a donation to the country. In return, the guest was handed an exemplar of the book.

Another interactive corner was the sharing box photo booth. It lets you take fun pictures or GIFs with your friends and then print it or send it directly to your email address.

Lastly, as Memphis is also a musician, there were 4 tablets present at the event where the attendees could listen to his new tracks that have not been published yet.

The event

The press arrived at 6; RTL Boulevard and SBS Shownieuws, among others, were present. Families and friends were invited at 8. The room was filled with 250 guests. At the photo wall, the press took pictures from the author of the book and the attendees got the opportunity to get pictures with Memphis as well. EVENTÔIR´s photographer did not miss a chance to take pictures of the greatest moments of the night, including Memphis’ emotional speech at 10 pm, before the party started. The hostesses made sure to be very attentive and make every guest feel appreciated. In a corner, an artist was painting a lion, which many guests were observing fascinated and in awe. Last but not least, Dutch branded marshmallows were offered next to tasty cocktails.

An event that will be remembered for a long time. EVENTÔIR is thankful for this great opportunity and wants to thank Memphis’ management for making it a memorable event.

“I just wanted to say a huge thank you for everything you did for the party. The night was a great success and everything looked amazing! You have been brilliant to work with and I can’t thank you enough for your quick communication and hard work to help me with the short time scale we had to get things sorted”. – Personal Assistant to CEO, Sport and Media Management Company.
