An international publishing company hired EVENTÔIR to organize a client meeting in the Middle East.
Being a company that serves and supports the research community, the meeting attendees were clients working for, among others, universities and pharmaceutical companies. Having organized a meeting in Oman before, we knew the country would be a great fit and offer enough possibilities for the group.
Arrival at the Hotel
After the arrival at the airport, the guests were picked up by their local guide for the time spent abroad and were brought to the hotel. They stayed at the InterContinental, a 5-star hotel located directly at the beach in Muscat. This hotel is great when you are organizing to have a meeting in Oman. Here they got the chance to unpack and get ready for the day, which had several meetings but also nice activities awaiting them.
The first plan was visiting the National Museum of Oman. This is a great way to get to know the Omani history, lifestyle, traditions, culture, nature, and products. It is a new and modern museum, presenting the exhibited artifacts and stories in an informative way. With a guided tour through the rooms, you will leave the museum and the country with a great amount of knowledge you would otherwise not be able to obtain. A visit you should not miss out on.
An activity organized for the group by EVENTÔIR entailed a guided walk along Muttrah Corniche, a 3 km long avenue along the harbor, right before dinner time. Hence, the guests were able to see the most beautiful sunset while strolling along the seafront of the city. The local guide narrated the story of the city and the charming 19th-century merchant´s houses while passing colorful minarets and the commercial center.
There was a quick stop at the old-fashioned bazaar, named Muttrah Souk. The guests could find typical Omani clothing, household goods, different spices, and antiques. It was a great occasion to buy presents and souvenirs to take home for family members.
After a 30 minute walk around the market, the tour continued towards the well-known fish market. Right next to the fish market, you can find the fruit and vegetable market, where you can practice your bargaining skills. Furthermore, this is a great place to visit to observe the dhows anchor and unload the catches of the day.
To finish off a day full of impressions with a satisfying and delicious 3-course dinner, the group went to a traditional restaurant, serving local dishes. The restaurant Bait al Luban is located right next to the fish market. Frequently visited and regularly booked out, this only undermines the popularity of this lovely restaurant. The interior has an authentic look and the staff wear a matching uniform. All in all, an evening filled with different tastes, experiences, and fun times.
The local guide expected the guests outside of the restaurant to take them back to the hotel, where the guests got to have a good night sleep.
A day well spent that our clients will not forget easily.
