At the beginning of September, EVENTÔIR had planned a company trip to Porto for an insurance company. We had already organized a trip to Mallorca for them a year ago. This was a great opportunity to show them a new city and make them fall in love with the beauty of Porto.
Being the second-largest city of Portugal, it is a picturesque place to visit with its narrow streets and colorful houses.
Event Program Porto
The company trip to Porto lasted for 4 days and included 20 attendees. The weather was great, having an average of 25-30 degrees on a daily basis. Our client had asked for an event program that incorporated two main activities for the group to come together, but also enough free time for them to enjoy the city.
An early flight brought everyone from Schiphol airport to Porto in only 2.5 hours. The transfer was arranged, thus, after landing, the attendees were brought to the hotel, showing them the city on a small tour.
Having arrived at the Holiday Inn Porto Gaia Hotel, which is a great hotel with a lovely interior, the company trip to Porto was about to start in a good way. It is located in Vila Nova de Gaia, located south of Porto, on the other side of the Douro River.
Upon arrival, the group was able to drop off their luggage at the hotel and then make their way to explore this amazing city. They were granted a whole day to get lost in the striking streets of Porto.
On the second day of the trip, the group was invited to a river cruise on the Douro river, which is located in Ribeira. During this hour-long river cruise, they got to see the 6 bridges that connect Porto to its neighboring cities.
Ribeira is said to be the most beautiful and liveliest area of Porto. The facades of the houses will leave you in awe, and the many delicious and traditional restaurants make it the perfect place to be during the day and even at night.
Everything was reachable by foot, which makes this historic center with its great architecture, a perfect way to get to know the culture. Also, they were able to eat the best Pasteis de Nata that you can find in the city.
The historic center begins at the banks of the Douro river and is the oldest part of the city. Moreover, it is classified as a World Heritage by UNESCO. A company trip to Porto, therefore, incorporates many distinct aspects that every individual will be fond of.
On day 3 of the company trip to Porto, the invitees were able to enjoy the day however they wanted. Many decided to head to the beach and relax during the morning and afternoon. Others chose to go to the city center and discover even more of the wonderful city.
Port Tasting
In the evening, everyone was invited to the Cockburns lodge for some port tasting, which is located in Vila de Gaya, a short 15-minute walk from the hotel. This walk through the streets with a nice afternoon breeze was a great way to see this part of the city.
After having arrived, the tour through the winery began. They learned how port wine is made and they also got to taste 3 different port wines:
1. Cockburn’s Special Reserve
2. Late Bottled Vintage
3. Cockburn’s 10 years Old Tawny
Day 4
The flight was only scheduled in the evening, so the invitees still had the whole day to explore Porto. The majority of the group took their chance to buy some souvenirs, and the rest got a bike tour through the city.
The city is a great destination for anyone looking for a company trip as it has many distinct offers for every wish and desire. Finally, the feedback was very positive and we will be happy to continue working with this company.
