The Set Collection is an exquisite and sophisticated group located in the world’s most vibrant destinations in Europe. They combine talent, skills, expertise, and flair to craft inspiring environments and unique experiences.
Founded in 2011 with the Conservatorium Hotel in Amsterdam, The Set Collection expanded with the addition of Hotel Cafe Royal in London in 2012. The third jewel in their portfolio is the iconic Hotel Lutetia in Paris, welcomed in 2018. As for their next destination, only time will unveil the enchanting location that will join this distinguished collection.
Let’s begin with the inaugural hotel of the collection, Conservatorium. It is located in the heart of Amsterdam’s art district, surrounded by the Van Gogh Museum, the Rijksmuseum, and the Stedelijk Museum. Additionally, it is adjacent to the luxurious shopping district of P.C. Hooftstraat.
The venue is an architectural masterpiece, seamlessly blending the neo-Gothic structure from 1901, when it was once the Rijkspostspaarbank, and adapted with a modern and more futuristic look. It’s the perfect blend for a luxury hotel.
The hotel takes its name from the building’s second usage as a conservatorium. To echo this history, an impressive chandelier crafted from violins graces the entrance, adding a touch of elegance and musical allure to the hotel’s ambience.
The hotel’s origin is more legend than written history, dating back to 1865 when it was established as the city’s finest dining room and bar, swiftly becoming the epicentre of London’s fashionable set. Everything started with a French wine merchant called Daniel Nicholas Thévon and his wife Celestine who arrived in England to escape from their creditors in Paris.
In 2011, Hotel Cafe Royal joined The Set Collection, finding its place on the iconic Regent Street in London. It was purchased in 2008, the hotel undertook meticulous renewal while preserving its Grade II listed status. Meanwhile, the rooms and suites have been thoughtfully curated, embodying a modern and sophisticated character, characterized by simple and contemporary design.
The third and most recent addition to The Set Collection is Hotel Lutetia, acquired in 2018. Situated in the vibrant Saint-Germain-des-Prés area of Paris, it proudly stands as the only luxury Palace hotel on the left bank of the city. Opening its doors in 1910, the building is a captivating fusion of Art Nouveau and Art Deco.
Originally conceived as a meeting venue for both unknown and famous individuals to engage in discussions about art, philosophy, science, and politics, Hotel Lutetia has been an embodiment of authentic Parisian experiences for over a century.
The meticulous restoration project, led by Jean-Michel Wilmotte, enlisted master craftspeople from around the globe. Their expertise ensured that the hotel’s paintings, stained glass, frescoes, mosaics, and more were handled with care. The challenge was to preserve the hotel’s personality while seamlessly integrating it into the 21st century, creating a harmonious balance between past and present.
Experience the luxury of a tailor-made event at any of these locations, where professionalism meets perfection. The hotels are ready to accommodate any requests, whether it’s an elegant gala dinner, an international meeting or an anniversary celebration.
Indulge in unique catering designed for your breaks, and unwind after meetings in one of their exquisite bars. The Set venues boast a diverse range of meeting spaces to please every crowd – from intimate and private sessions to hybrid, virtual or international events. Your event will be nothing short of extraordinary in their meticulously crafted environments.
